similar phrase have been used throughout history, as a child children are taught by their teachers and family to “think before you speak” which is a similar message to “is it true?, is it useful?, is it kind? “this is done to teach children the importance of being kind to one another and at a young age because it is important to teach children right from wrong at a young age.
Buddha is an important religious figure who once said “if you propose to speak always ask your self: is it true is it necessary is it kind” I find this to be important as Buddha is worshipped by Buddhists meaning that they will follow his teaching and think before they say anything hurtful.
Bernard Meltzer once said “before you speak ask yourself what you are going to say is true, is it kind, is it helpful. If the answer is no maybe what you are about to say should be left unsaid" I feel that this is an important as Bernard is a historical figure so, he will influence people into thinking before they say something they will regret.
